How to optimize your product pages for search

Beginner10 min read

Want to get your products in front of more buyers? Start by optimizing your product pages for search. Use clear, specific product names and include relevant keywords that buyers are likely to search for (e.g., “gluten-free oat flour” instead of just “oat flour”). Add detailed descriptions that highlight features like certifications, applications, and unique benefits. Make sure your images are high quality and labeled accurately. The more complete and keyword-rich your listing, the easier it is for the right buyers to find you - and the faster you’ll start making meaningful connections.

Checklist: Optimizing Your Product Pages for Better Visibility

Strong product listings help buyers find what they need - and help you get discovered faster. Here's how to make your listings work harder:

1. Clear, Descriptive Product Title

Instead of "Baking Mix," say "Gluten-Free Chocolate Muffin Mix." Buyers use specific terms, so your title should reflect exactly what you offer. Leave out packaging format and size since it’s listed elsewhere.

2. Relevant Keywords

Think like a buyer: what would they search to find this? Include terms like non-GMO, keto-friendly, preservative free, bulk, wholesale, whole leaf etc. These are searchable so use as many relevant claims as you can here.

3. Describe the Product Thoroughly.

Be as detailed as you can to help our AI tool generate the best keywords for Surch. Include descriptive details on key selling points, product type, texture, flavour, processing method, format, uses, origin, functional benefit, dietary suitability and what makes it different. Clear descriptions boost buyer confidence. There's no limit so write away!

  1. Use Sharp, Accurate Images:
    • Visuals matter. Include clear, well-lit images of the product, packaging, Nutrition Facts Table and end-use when possible. It helps buyers picture the product in their own business. A white background works best and remember a picture speaks a thousand words!
  2. Use Keywords Buyers Search For:
    • Think like a buyer: what would they search to find this? Include terms related to use, claims, or industry trends. If your product is non-GMO, high-protein, preservative free, whole leaf, use these terms — that’s what buyers are looking for. These are searchable so use as many relevant claims as you can here.
  3. Tag Smartly
    • Take advantage of tagging features for certifications and product traits. This improves your chances of showing up when buyers filter by what matters to them. Use relevant certification tags like Kosher, Halal, Organic, Allergen-Free, Non-GMO to improve search filtering.
  4. List Common Applications
    • Help buyers understand where your product fits (e.g., Ideal for cookies, bars, and protein snacks). Include these in the product description.
  5. Keep It Updated
    • Don’t treat your product listing as “set it and forget it.” Update with seasonal claims, improved specs, availability or new keywords based on search trends.
  6. Think Like Your Buyer:
    • Would your listing grab attention in a 3-second scan? Is the value proposition clear? If not, tighten it up.

By following these steps, you’ll make it easier for the right buyers to find your products — and more likely to convert discovery into deals.
