Surch Foods is a B2B marketplace built to help food businesses find the right products, suppliers, manufacturing partners, services and expertise. Food industry sourcing still relies heavily on referrals, existing contacts, trade shows and scattered online searches.
Surch was born from experiencing that problem firsthand. In 2018, while working in retail product development, founder Sylvia Bennett needed to find a supplier for a clean-label angel food cake - but there was no centralized industry resource to search. Five years later, working in food manufacturing R&D, she ran into the same challenge again.
The problem wasn’t a lack of capable suppliers. It was a lack of visibility and a better way to find them.

Meet the Founder
Sylvia Bennett
Founder & CEO, Surch Foods
Sylvia Bennett brings more than 17 years of food industry experience spanning retail product development, private label, R&D and bakery manufacturing.
Her career has taken her from Sobeys and Walmart Canada to the supplier side of the industry in manufacturing R&D, giving her firsthand experience on both sides of the buyer-supplier relationship.
That experience - and the repeated challenge of finding the right suppliers, products and partners became the foundation for Surch Foods.
Sylvia is also a recipient of the Starter Company Plus grant, which supported the early development and growth of Surch.
